Moscow Red Square

Red Square is rich in historical sites and visiting Red square and the Kremlin will be a whole day activity. The Resurrection Gate would be a nice place to start and it was recently re-built. It was destroyed under the order of Stalin so that the Russian tanks can easily roll through the city for parades and celebrations. St. Basil’s Cathedral is a world famous one and its architectural beauty and complex interiors will surely keep your eyes and mind busy. Lobnoye Mesto is near the St. Basil’s Cathedral and there was a misconception that it was an execution point. But it was actually used for delivering religious speeches and other announcements! GUM Department Store is a shopping center worth a visit even if you don’t have any plans for shopping. Lenin’s Tomb is at the north of Red square, where you can find the Vladimir Lenin’s mummified dead body.

The Kremlin

The Kremlin is the seat of Government in Russia. The Kremlin itself means fortress and there is a fortress for every major city in Russia. Moscow Kremlin is a mighty fortress with a palace, Cathedrals, an arsenal, armory and many government buildings. Cathedral of the Annunciation was once the private property of Tsar Families. Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel holds several emperors’ memories in its graves. Cathedral of the Assumption is oldest of all where the Tsar’s were crowned. Church of the Deposition of the Robe is the smallest of all. The State Armory, Ivan the Great Bell Tower, the Tsar Bell and Cannon are some other places and things worth visiting.

State Tretyakov Gallery would do justice to your wild imaginations and dreams about Russian art. Pushkin Fine Arts Museum is where we can find the foreign modern art pieces. No matter you are a renaissance type or an impressionism lover, you will definitely find it here.

More Moscow Tourist Places to visit

A view of Moscow from the Sparrow Hills is just irresistible for anybody. Old Arbat Street is a pedestrian street and you can spot many unusual souvenirs, musicians and artists over here, a must see and a great place for people watching. Rent a boat and tour the city on it, you will have a marvelous time. Victory Park itself is monument for the World War II. We can see sculptures, monuments and obelisks all over the park. Izmaylovo Market is the best place for souvenirs, chess sets, antiques, jewelry and anything you like with a Russian touch. The Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Moscow State University, Novodevichy Convent, the Bolshoi Theater, the Bolshoi Theater etc. are some other places worth a visit.
